SiRF buys Centrality

SiRF TechnologyThe manufacturer of GPS chip SiRF Technology Holdings Inc. announced that it has finalized the purchase of Centrality Communications Inc., competitive producer of chips for mobile navigation devices.
SiRF acquired Centrality of 283 million U.S. dollars in shares and cash;
Founded in 1999, Centrality is a company based in Redwood City, Calif., Not far from the headquarters of SiRF, which is in San Jose. Centrality has more than 190 employees of the main development in Shanghai, China, with offices in Taipei, Taiwan; Seoul, South Korea; and Brussels, Belgium.
“World recognized multifunction SoC (system-on-chip) and expertise in multiple platforms is an important added value for our company, particularly when profiling is increasingly in the growing market, automotive navigation and abundant” Kaning Michael, president of SiRF.
